Grace:
A Short History of
Springs of Grace Lutheran Church
2013 –
2013
Much had happened since
Pastor Judson joined on July 1, 2007.
Our congregation was certainly acting like a “Church”.
Our membership continued to grow, in fact, we have almost
tripled in size. Of course, part of that growth was due to
the addition of two “Merrells”, Pastor and Carrie’s
daughters Addison and Camryn!
We established an
active Sunday School for adults and children. We had
very successful
Vacation Bible School programs that grew in
numbers and enthusiasm each summer. We had an active
confirmation program, having confirmed several of our youth
with more joining the program with each year. Our Lutheran Men
program was started and had enjoyed many programs and
projects for the local community, while our Women’s
Fellowship group continued their mission work and was
probably one of our strongest small group ministries.
In addition to our growing
numbers and growing ministries and programs, we were
blessed with amazing stewardship among our members.
Statistically, we were considered on par or well above most other
Lutheran congregations in our generous giving. But we are
most proud of the way we were employing these gifts. Our
outreach to the community was nearly non-existent only a few
years ago. Yet during this time we continued to build on one successful
event after another.
Pastor Judson served
faithfully until the end of December 2012, when he moved to
Gilbert, SC. For much of 2013 and into the following year, the Rev. Dr. James H. Milligan
served as our interim pastor.
