Weekly Devotional

March 2, 2009

God’s Peace be with you all.

Given that I have not had power for the last 21 hours (finally!) and that we have all not had the best weather in the world (but it sure does look nice and thank God for the rain that we need!), I thought I would give you some appropriate points to ponder on for the week:

Sirach 3:15   15 in the day of your distress it will be remembered in your favor; like frost in fair weather, your sins will melt away.

Genesis 7:12  12 The rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.

Deuteronomy 11:11-12  11 But the land that you are crossing over to occupy is a land of hills and valleys, watered by rain from the sky,  12 a land that the LORD your God looks after. The eyes of the LORD your God are always on it, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year.

1 Esdras 9:6  6 All the multitude sat in the open square before the temple, shivering because of the bad weather that prevailed.

Job 6:15-16  15 My companions are treacherous like a torrent-bed, like freshets that pass away,  16 that run dark with ice, turbid with melting snow.

Job 24:19  19 Drought and heat snatch away the snow waters;

Job 37:6-7  6 For to the snow he says, 'Fall on the earth'; and the shower of rain, his heavy shower of rain,  7 serves as a sign on everyone's hand, so that all whom he has made may know it.

Psalm 147:16  16 He gives snow like wool; he scatters frost like ashes.

Proverbs 25:13  13 Like the cold of snow in the time of harvest are faithful messengers to those who send them; they refresh the spirit of their masters.

Isaiah 55:10-11  10 For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there until they have watered the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,  11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

And my favorite that has meaning for this week:

Genesis 1:3   3 Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.

In our prayers this week:
